My journey to founding The Gilded Wren has been a colorful one, shaped by my love for art and the experiences of a lifetime. Hi, I’m Heather Applegate, the artist behind The Gilded Wren. From a young age, I’ve been captivated by birds, finding solace and inspiration in their graceful presence. It was a golden bird sculpture on my coffee table that sparked the name for my business—a belief that unique art, gifts, and home décor can truly gild your home, adding that special touch of warmth, sparkle, or whimsy.
For 32 years, I embraced the nomadic life of an Army wife, journeying across the globe and immersing myself in diverse cultures and artistic traditions. Amidst the frequent moves and transitions, I found solace in exploring local art scenes, curating unique finds in gift shops, and absorbing the beauty of each new environment.
